The Elk Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce, which serves businesses across 12 communities, has unanimously voted to support the Elk Rapids District Library Campaign, “A Library for Everyone.”

There are many compelling reasons to support the Library Capital Bond Millage. Our decision aligns with the Chamber’s mission: “To promote business and community prosperity through advocacy, education, and networking.”

Libraries play a vital role in fostering a strong business environment. Specifically, the Elk Rapids District Library supports our business community in the following ways:

• Attracting and Retaining Talent: A vibrant library enhances the quality of life, which is essential for drawing and keeping skilled workers.
• Serving as a Community Hub: Libraries offer programs, resources, and gathering space that strengthen our community and support workforce development.
• Positive Community Perception: A well-supported library system creates a welcoming, educated, and connected community—making Elk Rapids more attractive to businesses and residents alike.

In addition, libraries for all residents:

• Free Access to Information: From books and newspapers to online databases, libraries promote literacy and lifelong learning.
• Working with our School District: Library will collaborate on various initiatives like providing access to resources, promoting literacy, and offering programs that complement the curriculum. Offer programs like storytelling festivals or literacy workshops. Summer reading programs, providing resources and activities to encourage continued learning during school breaks
• Digital Access: With free computers, internet, and digital tools, libraries help close the digital divide for residents and job seekers.
• Literacy and Skill Development: Libraries support reading, writing, and job readiness through targeted programming and accessible resources.

Libraries are more than repositories for books—they are cornerstones of healthy, prosperous communities.
